Artist Bio

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, this is my home. After receiving my BFA in design from the Kansas City Art Institute, I have built a successful career as a graphic designer and illustrator. Outside of the darkroom, I am a creative director in the field of branding. Through years of practice, I’ve refined my skill as a visual storyteller by creating inspired brand identity systems to artfully reflect compelling brand stories.
As pinhole photographer, I am inspired by the visual and physical energy of the places I experience–the activity, the scale, the potential for the unexpected or unpredictable occurrences that exist in every scene. I use my camera to capture these moments and tell a visual story in its purest form – unaltered by camera lens, filters or digital processors. The wave of a flag, the sweeping turn of a figure captured on film enables me to bring the most authentic visual record of the true spirit and energy of a given time and place to the viewer. The movements of time, light, and motion that happen in nature are the most genuine part of my work. My individual view of the subject, the composition of image and exposure on film are my artistry, and the means with which I am able to capture fascinating moments in time. More than anything, I delight in every image being completely original and a true impression of a moment that can never again be replicated in exactly the same way.
